Tiger Woods, who last played competitive golf in June when he defeated Rocco Mediate in an 18-hole Monday playoff at the U.S. Open, isn’t sure when he’ll play again.

Tiger Woods

While appearing in Dubai to promote a golf course he helped design, the world’s top-ranked golfer said this week he’s uncertain he’ll able to defend his 2008 title in the Dubai Desert Classic scheduled next January.

At the least, Woods will therefore miss seven months of competitive golf while recovering from knee surgery. And so with five months remaining before he returns to the golfing scene, here’s a list of five things Woods might consider doing in his spare time:

1. Get a new company logo. The current Tiger Woods’ logo looks staid. You need a fresh design, something simple, but edgy. Here’s a tip, Tiger: Take a look a the logo cyclist Tyler Hamilton has for his foundation. That’s a logo.

2. Have a heart-to-heart with your caddie, Steve Williams. He’s awfully caught up in himself as if he’s part of the show. He ain’t.

3. Anger management classes. Tiger, you soon will surpass Jack Nicklaus’ major victory record and may be finally universally considered the finest player in history. The sport was built on sportsmanship and once was proud of its gentlemanly ways. So, set the example. Get rid of the club-tossing routines.

4. Hire a choreographer to rethink the pelvic thrust and fist-pumping explosions. They’ve lost their appeal.

5. Oh, what the hell. Do some freebie stuff. Visit schools. Pick a new cause and go with it. How about a Tiger Woods’ line of food? Give Paul Newman a call. It worked for him.
