With the selection of the four U.S. Captain’s picks Sept. 2 , both squads are set for the Ryder Cup, the biennally event called the “Ryder Cup Matches between 12-player teams from Europe and the United States.

The event, scheduled Sept. 16-21 at Valhalla Country Club Louisville, Kentucky, continues the tradition of the event that began following an exhibition match in 192 between a team representing American professionals against a similar one representing the British PGA.

The U.S. has dominated the matches, but not recently. The Americans hold a 24-12 overall series lead with two ties. But the European squad has claimed the last three Ryder Cups and eight of the last 10 meetings.
