Thanksgiving feast for cricket fans this month
Apart from Bangladesh, all the currently test playing nations will be involved in playing international cricket this month.
India and Sri Lanka have locked horns in a test match series. The first game of the series is currently in progress on a pitch at Ahmedabad that is a far cry from the one that was seen in the last game played there.
South Africa bundled India out in the very first session in that game in 2008 and went on to easily win the match. In this current game, the bowlers have nothing in it for them, and the batsmen are piling up the runs. At the time of writing, not even three days have been completed, and the game has seen four centuries.
The other series that is currently going on is between England and South Africa. The two sides played in a two game T20I series, which was shared by them. Again, the games were absolutely high-scoring even by the standards of T20 cricket, what with England making 200 in the first game and winning by only one run, and then being at the receiving end of a score of 240 in the second. The series was tied at one game apiece. The two sides will now play a five game ODI series.
The third series which will be played is between Pakistan and New Zealand. The two sides will play three test matches, the first of which will begin from the 24th of November. Pakistan and New Zealand had earlier this month, played a three match series ODI and two T20Is. New Zealand went on to win the ODI series, whereas Pakistan won the T20Is.
Australia will host West Indies around the same time in a three test match series. West Indies will play with their full strength side after almost six months, after the impasse between the cricket board and the players association has been resolved. However, the captain, Chris Gayle may not be featured in the first game, as he has left Australia to be with his seriously ill mother. At the other end, Australia has been struggling with their own set of absentees with Brett Lee being ruled out of the tests and the fitness of Michael Clarke unknown yet.
