Magnus Carlsen dominated the event with the performance of 3002 ELO rating, he won the event with a round to spare. In the final round, Carlsen defeated Dmitry Jakovenko of Russia to claim the title with clear 2.5 points ahead of the field. The top-ranked chess player, Vesselin Topalov finished second with 5.5 points.
Magnus Carlsen is expected to cross ELO 2800 and join the elite group (only four players) who have crossed 2800.
